About the Discord Color Text Generator
Discord has no color picker, but it does support ANSI code blocks: a special code block that reads color codes and shows the text in color. Writing those codes by hand is fiddly, so this generator does it for you.
Split your message into segments and give each one its own text color, background color, bold or underline. The preview shows roughly how it will look. Press Copy, paste into Discord and send. Colors show on Discord desktop and in the browser, while some mobile versions show plain text instead.
How to use it
- Type your text in the first segment and pick its colors.
- Add more segments for different colors.
- Press Copy for Discord and paste the whole block into a message.
Discord ANSI color codes
- 30: gray text
- 31: red text
- 32: green text
- 33: yellow text
- 34: blue text
- 35: pink text
- 36: cyan text
- 37: white text
- 40 to 47: background colors
- 1: bold
- 4: underline
- 0: reset to normal
How the code block works
The copied text starts with three backticks and the word ansi, which tells Discord to read color codes. Each colored part begins with an escape character followed by codes like [1;31m for bold red, and ends with [0m to reset. Discord hides the codes and shows only the colored text.
Discord Color Text Generator FAQ
- Why does my colored text show as plain text?
- Make sure you pasted the whole block, including the first line with three backticks and ansi. Some mobile versions of Discord do not show ANSI colors, so check on desktop too.
- Can I use colors in server names or nicknames?
- No. ANSI colors only work inside code blocks in messages. For styled names, try fancy text fonts instead.
- Is this tool made by Discord?
- No. It is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Discord.
