About the Pixel Art Maker
This is a simple pixel art editor that runs in the browser with nothing to install. Pick a grid size, choose a color and click or drag to fill squares. The fill bucket floods any connected area of the same color, and undo steps back through your last 30 changes.
The default palette is a 20 color retro set that works well together, which matters more in pixel art than in any other medium. There is also a custom color picker when you need something exact.
Empty squares stay transparent in the export, so a sprite you draw here drops straight onto a background, a game mockup or a sticker.
How to use it
- Choose a canvas size: 16, 32 or 64 squares.
- Pick a color and draw by clicking or dragging. Use fill for large areas.
- Download the PNG. Empty squares stay transparent.
Pixel art tips for beginners
- Start at 16 by 16. Small grids force clear shapes and finish quickly.
- Use few colors. Three shades of one color usually beat ten random ones.
- Draw the silhouette first, then add detail inside it.
- Keep lines clean: avoid single stray pixels sticking out of a curve.
- Add a darker shade on the side away from your light source.
What people make here

Pixel Art Maker FAQ
- What size should pixel art be?
- 16 by 16 suits icons and small sprites, 32 by 32 is the most common size for characters, and 64 by 64 gives room for detail without taking all day.
- Is the exported PNG transparent?
- Yes. Any square you leave empty is transparent in the download, so sprites sit cleanly on any background.
- Can I keep working on a drawing later?
- Not yet. The canvas clears when you reload the page or change grid size, so download the PNG when you are happy with it.
