About old school memes
Before memes were videos, they were a picture with Impact text on it. These are the formats that ran the internet in the 2010s: Bad Luck Brian, Scumbag Steve, Philosoraptor, Y U No Guy and the rest of the advice animal family.
They still land today, partly as nostalgia and partly because the jokes were built to be reusable. Caption one and send it to whoever will recognise it.
Old school memes FAQ
What are advice animals?
Advice animals are the 2010s format with a coloured wheel background and a character whose personality drives the joke, like Bad Luck Brian or Good Guy Greg.
Why do old memes use Impact font?
Impact with a black outline was the default in early meme generators because it stays readable over any image, and it stuck as the classic look.
